My approach
Keen interest in policy making and implementation, particularly in applying principles of sustainable development.
Special attention to the roles of public administration and international organizations. taking into account the activities of national governments, the UN System, industry representatives, NGOs, academia, civil society, and the importance of inter-organizational and multistakeholder cooperation. Education in environmental protection, encompassing both scientific and policy perspectives, combined with several years of experience in environmental policy and maritime affairs, provides a solid foundation for addressing the implications and business needs related to a broad spectrum of environmental policy and industry-related issues.

• International Maritime Organization (IMO), Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) & Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR), London, UK, since 2008.

• Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM), Helsinki, Finland, 2021-2023.

• Council of the European Union, Shipping Working Party & Working Party on the Environment as well as Committee for the implementation of EU directive on sulphur content in marine fuels & EU Ship Recycling Regulation Committee, Brussels, Belgium, since 2011.


Maritime & marine involvement
The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM), the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships (AFS), the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC), the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter (LC) and the Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea Area (the Helsinki Convention). Most recently climate change & air emissions from international shipping, in particular greenhouse gas and sulphur oxides emissions.
